The Balance Box Visualizing Your Way to a life of Peace and Well-Being
. |
 |
A visioning technique which uses pictures cut from books and magazines or downloaded from the Internet, has taken many forms through the years since it was first introduced. Originally called "Treasure Mapping", the earliest instructions said to paste pictures of things we would like to see manifest in our life on "shirt cardboards". Once a staple in every American household, "shirt cardboards" which were placed in men's shirts to keep them stiff on the way back from the commercial laundry, are now virtually non-existent, but Treasure Maps, Vision Boards, Image Books, Wheels of Fortune and other versions of "pictorial goaling" continue to be popular. Why? Because they work! In the movie, The Secret, Entrepreneur John Assaraf illustrates how he manifested a multi million dollar mansion - not just a little bit like the picture he put on his Vision Board five years earlier - but exactly like it!
One aspect of using these common goal-setting techniques, however, is that they are not designed to include the important aspect of BALANCE. In our enthusiasm to see money manifest, or things, or relationships, or miraculous healings, we may focus too completely on one important aspect of our lives and ignore the others. A truly joy-filled life is always a BALANCED life.
In creating The Balance Box, we tapped into the wisdom of the Ancients - as taught in the Chinese Art of Feng Shui - and created a visualization technique which helps us to manifest simultaneously in nine essential areas of our life experience Wealth - Recognition - Romance - Health - God - Creativity - Inner Wisdom - Life Path and Helpful People. Our relative level of achievement in any of these areas is, of course, dependent on our degree of understanding that all that we are, all that we ever have been and all that we ever will be is possible simply because the God of our Being is our Instant, Constant, Abundant Source of all supply.
In each of the nine boxes of your balance box, you post pictures, drawings, computer images, etc. that represent the things you want to achieve in that area of your life.
Ex:
Wealth - In this square you will post pictures of your material goals - money, cars, houses, boats, trips
Recognition - In this square you will post images of your goals for achievement - promotions, trophies. medals, certificates, compliments and praise, public and private.
Romance - In this square you will post pictures of yourself (or a substitute image) doing fun things with someone you love
Health - In this square you will post pictures that represent your ideal, healthy body and lifestyle
God - In this square you post a picture of something that represents God to you - clouds, rainbows, praying hands - an image that you can go to in gratefulness for all that you have, all that you have ever had and all that you want to manifest in your future.
Creativity - Everyone is a natural creator and when we ignore this part of ourselves, we are really out of balance. Your particular avenue or avenues of creativity may be in the traditional arts - or in the kitchen or the garden or the sports arena on your computer. Post here pictures of the things you want to create in your future.
Inner Wisdom - Post here pictures of you seeking your inner wisdom through mediation, reading, journaling, praying, doing yoga exercises, walking in nature, etc.
Life Path - In this square you will post pictures of things you would like to achieve in your foreseeable future.
Helpful People - We are all connected in this time/space continuum and we are here to help each other. Post here pictures of the helpful people you wish to draw into your life in the near future - teachers, mentors, workmen, colleagues, co-creators of every sort - and take time then to be grateful for all those who have helped you and are helping you right now.
Below is a "model" of the Balance Box for you to use as an example in the process of creating your own. It delineates the the nine important areas of your life experience.

To create your own Balance Box, copy off the Tic-tac-toe design, (which automatically provides for the nine separate areas of your life experience in which you plan to grow and expand), onto a piece of poster board; or create a similar graphic on a cork bulletin board by using ribbon and push pins. At the top of each section - put the words that mimic the model in all nine areas of growth. Wealth - Recognition - Romance ~ Health - God - Creativity - Inner Wisdom - Life Path and Helpful People. .
Now comes the fun part. Make this Balance Box distinctly yours by selecting pictures that represent the various sections as you would like them to outpicture in your life experience from now on. (Don't hurry - your perfect pictures will find you.) If you want a new car, put a picture of the car of your dreams in the Wealth section. If you want to write a book, put a picture of a book with your title and name on it in the Creativity area. If you want growth in your career, select a picture of a successful person doing what you love to do and paste it in the Life Path section.
As you finish placing each picture on your board, move your attention to the Center Square and express your gratefulness to God in three ways - gratefulness for what you have now, for what you have always had and also for what you want to receive in the future. Then acknowledge that God is your instant, constant, Source of all supply.
For example, if you have posted a picture of the new car you want, first give thanks for the car you have, then for all the cars you have ever had and finally for the new car you want to receive. This exercise will remind you that God has given you what you wanted many times in the past and will do so again, just because that's what God does.
The size of your Balance Box is not important. It can be created on something as small as a poster board - - or you can fill a whole wall of a room in your house with it. But it must be made up of nine, equal squares, filled with appropriate pictures of your hopes, dreams and ambitions in each of the nine basic areas of life experience.
If you are using poster board, glue your pictures on. If you are using a wall, then decoupage your pictures to the wall. If you are using cork board, pin your pictures on with push pins. The advantage of using a cork board is that once you have achieved a goal, you can easily move on to your next goal by simply substituting a new picture.
Place your finished Balance Box in a place where you will see it many times a day. For the first several weeks, spend 10 or 15 minutes with it every day until you are very familiar with what is in each square. Look carefully at the pictures in each square and then go to the center square to repeat your gratefulness exercise. Feel the stress in your life decrease day by day as you experience what it feels like to lead a balanced life. That shift alone will bring you a greater sense of peace and satisfaction in life, well before you begin to manifest the items pictured on your Balance Box.
Creating a Balance Box is fun! It expands your awareness of your limitless possibilities. Anyone can do it. It is virtually cost-free and the rewards are huge.
Study the Balance Box below and allow yourself to feel what it would be like to literally "have it all." God wants to give you everything you want while you are here on planet earth - but first, you have to ask for it Your Balance Box will help you to discover all of the true desires of your heart.
We have placed only one picture in each section of this sample Balance Box, but we encourage you to fill each section with as many things that you want that you can think of. You are a limitless Being! Each new thing added increases your awareness of how special your life experience is now and how much more amazing it can become.
